Bluebeam® PDF Revu® 8.5 Revs up PDF Workflows with One Button PDFs from Revit®, Advanced PDF Markup and Editing, and Real-Time Collaboration

Bluebeam PDF Revu CAD Edition 8.5, the leading PDF creation, markup and editing solution for the design and construction industry, now offers even more tools that enable BIM and CAD users to streamline digital workflows. New features released in 2010 include a plugin to Revit for one button PDF creation, several PDF markup and editing enhancements and real-time collaboration. Together, these additions make it easier than ever for CAD users and designers to digitally review drawings and collect feedback.

Create one button PDFs from Revit

Since 2002, Bluebeam has provided AutoCAD users with reliable PDF creation technology. Now Revu extends this value to BIM users with a PDF plugin for Revit 2010 and 2011. By simply clicking a button, users can create smart PDFs that transfer hyperlinks, file properties and other metadata. With just a few extra clicks, users can customize the PDF by selecting specific sheets and ordering them before creating a multi-page PDF.

Bluebeam has also expanded its compatibility for AutoCAD. Revu now installs plugins for one button and batch PDF creation into AutoCAD 2004 to 2011, including all verticals as well as 64-bit versions of AutoCAD 2008 to 2011.

Power up PDF Markup and Editing

Bluebeam PDF Revu has built a reputation of providing smart, industry-standard markups for commenting on PDF drawings. New features added this year make Revu an even more powerful tool for digitally commenting on design documents.

First, Bluebeam’s Markups list, which tracks all comments on a PDF, has undergone an amazing metamorphosis. Users can now add custom columns with formulas, drop-down menus, check boxes and more. The true power of this enhancement is witnessed when using Bluebeam’s measurement tools for calculating length, area, perimeter, diameter, radius, angle and counting from PDFs. Now, users can measure elements off a PDF drawing and utilize Revu’s Markups list as a fully-integrated worksheet for performing calculations.

Revu also enables users to let their true colors shine through via Color Processing. Now, users have the power to change vector and image elements in PDFs and annotations to any color in the rainbow.

Next, innovative improvements to Bluebeam’s PDF markups make the redlining tools incredibly savvy. Any markup saved in Bluebeam’s exclusive Tool Chest can be assigned an action, such as a hyperlink, or auto-numbering to provide an updated count every time it’s used.

Finally, Bluebeam has introduced a File Access tab for searching local and network drives for PDF files, as well as organizing and managing recent files from directly within Revu. By combining file access and PDF redlining and editing into one desktop application, Bluebeam is simplifying the way users get the information they need, when they need it.

Collaborate in real time, or any time, with Studio

Bluebeam’s latest innovation is Studio, an incredible new solution for digitally collaborating on PDF drawings and documents in real time. Designed specifically for architecture, engineering and construction professionals, Studio is a place to meet, create, collaborate and well…make a little magic.

Through Studio, attendees can chat and add markups to a single copy of a PDF using Bluebeam’s industry-standard redlining tools such as clouds, callouts, CAD symbols and measurements. Every chat message and markup is tracked in the Record, a comprehensive list of all session activity, which includes document, page and view information. This allows attendees to click through a Record to not only review comments and markups made by others, but to experience the same view of the PDF as when the comment was made. Additionally, an attendee can follow a partner in real time so his view of the PDF updates as the partner zooms, pans and redlines.

To promote global collaboration, anyone using Bluebeam PDF Revu as a free PDF viewer can participate in a Studio session. Only the host, who initiates the collaboration session, must have a licensed copy of Bluebeam PDF Revu.
