Carlson Mining’s three modules for Geology, Surface Mining and Underground Mining cover all aspects of mining from exploration, modeling, planning and engineering through reclamation. Designed for geologists, mining engineers, mining companies and consultants, and based on AutoCAD, the Carlson Mining and Geology modules deliver powerful automation, combined with ease-of-use.

Carlson Geology 2012 imports most any format of drillholes and creates both the stratigraphic and block model of the deposit. Mine reserves and classification take away the hard work of estimating the ore and planning the mining progression. Whether it is simple geotechnical investigation, or large scale mine exploration, Carlson Geology 2012 accurately represents the subsurface geology.

Carlson Surface Mining 2012 designs the open pit and strip mine layouts. After pit and spoil polygons are named and assigned directions, 3D benched volumes are calculated based on interactive mining scenarios to create a surface mining history. Equipment productivity uses custom calendars and macros for detailed short and long range scheduling. Haul truck routes are analyzed based on length and slope to calculate productivity or truck fleet size. Other tools such as dragline range diagrams and open pit design with benches and ramps complete the module.

Carlson Underground Mining 2012 is used for mine layout and monthly updating based on surveys. Various room and pillar, longwall and panel layouts are automated for seamless linking to actual survey of current positions. Equipment selection and calendars provide for exact scheduling and life of mine predictions and maps.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

  • Drillholes - Import most any format of holes and create both the stratigraphic and block model. Check correlation by lining up the geologic columns in section or 3D. Run queries and reports.
  • Geology Macros – Interactive macros can reproduce the model quickly after reviewing the correlation and editing the drillholes.
  • Visualize from all angles – Once the model is produced, it generates sections, slices and planes to visually show how the geology and drillholes relate.

  • Surface Mine Reserves - Mine reserves and estimation reports are easily formatted and exported to Excel and others. Reserve classification details the measured, indicated and inferred results.
  • Pit Layout and Scheduling – Pits, properties and spoil boundaries are laid out and used for reserves and scheduling of mining and backfill spoil. 3D benched pits with ramps are automated by name and slope groups.
  • Dragline Range Diagrams and Haul Truck Analysis – Link section design to 3D pit and spoil surface design. Create haul truck routes, choose from truck library, or create your own, for fleet and productivity analysis.
  • Underground Mine Mapping – Update the mine map for end of month quantities and recalculate the plan based on current position.
  • Underground Mine Timing – Schedule the mine layout by selecting equipment and calendars to do “what-if” scenarios and create full reports, exported into Excel.
