Bluebeam PDF REVU v7 Enables Autocad 2010 User To Create, Edit PDFS
Pasadena, CA (April 23, 2009) – Bluebeam Software, a leading developer of PDF solutions for CAD users and the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry, has released Bluebeam PDF Revu v 7. This professional and affordable PDF editor now integrates directly into AutoCAD 2010 for PDF creation, and includes several new features for redlining and editing PDF drawings. The new functionality in version 7 expands Bluebeam’s professional PDF solution for CAD and AEC, providing users with over 20 new improvements for sharing and reviewing design data electronically in PDF, while significantly reducing unnecessary paper usage and distribution.
For seven years, Bluebeam Software has provided AutoCAD users with powerful plugins for high-quality, large format PDFs from drawings. Bluebeam PDF Revu v 7 increases the scope of this technology by supporting 32-bit and 64-bit versions of AutoCAD 2010 and its verticals. Now, users of AutoCAD 2004-2010 can simply push a button to create PDFs from AutoCAD or convert folders of DWG files to PDF in a single batch. Bluebeam creates smart PDFs that maintain scale, paper size, line weights and line merge, and also transfer bookmarks, hyperlinks, and security settings.
Bluebeam’s integration with AutoCAD 2010 is just the beginning of its commitment to CAD users and the AEC industry. Version 7 includes many new industry-standard PDF markup and editing features, enabling users to add more detail to PDF documents, providing for better communication and less confusion. For example, users can now fill in markups and takeoffs with hatch patterns. Revu includes a variety of common hatch patterns, allows users to create and save custom hatches, and imports AutoCAD .pat files. Also new in version 7 is the ability to redline PDF drawings with arcs and create custom text stamps with the revised stamp editor. The measurement tool incorporates curves technology for more accurate area, perimeter and volume calculations in metric or imperial units.
In addition to providing specific PDF markup and editing tools for CAD and AEC users, Bluebeam has enhanced its PDF reviewing and distribution features. Important pages can be marked for review using PDF Flags, exclusive technology that places a virtual sticky note on designated pages. Large files can be reduced using the new Reduce File Size feature, and Bluebeam now supports PDF packages for organizing multiple files and file types into a single package for archiving or delivering documents to clients.
“Bluebeam is dedicated to developing tools that make CAD users and AEC firms more efficient and sustainable,” said Richard Lee, President and CEO of Bluebeam Software. “The new features in version 7 do just that – enable design and engineering professionals to share information electronically, comment on PDFs with tools that make sense to them and distribute documents without printing. This functionality provides firms with real results –reduced printing and shipping costs and increased productivity.”
