The “networked” solutions in Carlson Civil 2012 — Lot NETwork, Site NETwork, and Road NETwork — make for dynamic, mistake-proof planning of projects including major shopping, recreational, office complex and subdivision developments, plus both large and small road projects.

Top new features include a Road Rehabilitation command to create profiles for specified overlay with milling or leveling. There’s a new ability in Carlson to Edit Contours and instantly update the underlying 3D model – it updates the underlying TIN surface to match the modified contours. Carlson Draw Profile has graphic previews of settings with dialog and retains custom edits of labels. Plus, there’s an added setting for curve definitions for either roadway or railroad curves.

With Lot NETwork, you can quickly design an entire subdividion, based on an outer boundary, interior ROWs or Centerlines, and user-defined rules for key parameters. Site NETwork in Carlson Civil provides automated, accurate and integrally linked earthwork calculations. With the drawing layers representing existing conditions and proposed design, Site NETwork generates each surface with a single menu click and calculates volumes with one more pick. Plus, gives ability to balance cut/fill by applying grading rules. For intersecting roads, intersections, cul-de-sacs, round¬abouts and more, Road NETwork in Carlson Civil does layout and clean-up in 2D and 3D. Edits allow all aspects of road design to be added or changed and automatically updated, including the corresponding profiles, cross sections, and volume calculations.
