Question: Does Atrium Designer 2012 replace my existing final renderer such as V-Ray, mental ray, etc.?

Answer: No, Atrium Designer 2012 is a preview viewport to speed up your production time by adding true real time global illumination within 3ds Max. Atrium Designer 2012 will not replace but support the other tools functions such as material definitions, lights, cameras, etc. At the end you can use your favorite renderer as today.
